The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was awarded the 2023 Family Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal. Goes to show how amazing this vehicle is and I can’t wait to get into the preview of the Outlander PHEV. Let’s start with the performance of the Outlander PHEV.
Talk about a road trip with fewer stops to recharge, the Outlander PHEV has a combined range of 420 miles. When it does become time to charge and use 100% of the electric power, you can receive up to 38 miles in range at a time. That to me is very impressive! You also have low to zero-emission drive modes that deliver 64 MPGe2 for all the eco-friendly fun. Let’s talk about the PHEV system that delivers optimum driving performance with a fuel-efficient 2.4L MIVEC engine and twin electric motors that changes between 3 drive modes of EV Mode, Series Hybrid Mode, and Parallel Hybrid Mode. That does not stop with the efficiency of even more EV power. The EV Mode Selector Switch adds 4 additional modes as a driving option. Normal Mode, EV Priority Mode, Save Mode, and Charge Mode add maximum efficiency to every mile of every trip. Don’t forget the S-AWC is available for the Outlander PHEV too!
Moving along with the exterior of the Outlander PHEV, you have 4 different trim levels to choose from. ES, SE, SEL, and 40th Anniversary Edition, and not even one disappoints! I am a huge fan of a vehicle that will only come around on special times so if I had a trim level to choose from, it would be the 40th. Anniversary Edition. Preserve the milestone of this wonderful vehicle and the amazing features it can provide. The top exterior features that stand out to me are the 20-inch Two-Tone Alloy Wheels, 40th. Anniversary & PHEV Badges throughout the vehicle, power Panoramic Sunroof and the hands-free power liftgate with adjustable height. The Outlander PHEV comes with a ton of Convenient Features that make a great experience for the driver and all 7 passengers that can ride along. For the Driver’s Convenience, the Outlander PHEV comes with a 12.3” Full Digital Driver Display, 1 USB-C & 1 USB-A, Rearview Camera, Remote Keyless Entry, Steering Wheel Audio, and Phone Controls with Voice Recognition Control, Power Lumbar Support, and Tilt and Telescopic Steering Wheel. Depending on the trim level you choose, you have the 8.0” Smartphone-link Display Audio or the 9.0” Navigation System with Smartphone-link System. Also, both audio systems are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for even more convenience. The coolest feature available in my opinion is the Massage Function in both front seats so that you can reach the highest point of relaxation in your drive. The amount of room in the Outlander PHEV is amazing. There are 3 rows with the ability to seat up to 7-passengers with ample amounts of space for comfort. We cannot forget to mention the 64.7 cubic ft. Of cargo space to make for a very easy loading & unloading experience and the customizable seating arrangements so you can organize your passengers and cargo in many ways needed.
Lastly, Let’s look at the safety features that also make the Outlander PHEV one of the best vehicles around. Equipped with multiple standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to help always safeguard every person in the vehicle for a smooth ride. Starting with Lane Departure Warning that continuously monitors the vehicle’s lane position and then provides a gentle sound and visual alert if you are unintentionally out of your lane. Forward Collision Mitigation with Pedestrian Detection can detect if a person or car is in front of you and if you do not apply the brakes when needed, the vehicle will attempt to stop for you to avoid an accident. Rear Cross Traffic Alert scans your surroundings behind you for nearby objects while you’re in reverse and will provide a warning sound immediately to stop any issues. In conclusion, we have the Blind Spot Warning that will flash a warning light in the corresponding side mirror when a vehicle approaches but if you activate the indicators a sound and visual alert will inform you that it’s not safe to change from the lane you are in.
